Mary Valley Meander

There’s a lot of Mary Valley Country to explore. The main villages are Dagun, Amamoor, Kandanga, Imbil, Kenilworth and Conondale; this meander from Amamoor Lodge stays north of Kenilworth.

If you haven’t booked breakfast at Amamoor Lodge you can head to the fabulous Kandanga Kitchen to boost your energy for the day ahead with fabulous local treats. After breakfast head to Amamoor village to catch the arrival of the Mary Valley Rattler on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. There is a cafe at the station and on Saturday mornings a producers market. Next in our meander is the beautiful village of Imbil. There are plenty of water activities on Yabba Creek and Borumba Dam. Fishing, kayaking or water-skiing. Pop into Puzzles on Yabba and be amazed. If you’re looking to hire a cycle or kayak contact Ride On Mary – Kayak & Bike Bush Adventures.

From Imbil go to Kenilworth and over the bluff. Here you will find cheese, doughnuts and shopping, as well as country hospitality. The best kind!! Now head towards Eumundi but turn off at Skyring Creek Rd towards Carters Ridge and Hub at the Ridge Cafe for coffee, burger, pizza and more.

Head back towards Tutchekoi and Dagun. On Saturday afternoons the Dagun Growers Market is at the Dagun station and on Sunday there is cheese and wine tastings and the historic Mary Valley Rattler makes a stop on Sunday afternoon. From Dagun head to Amama Park along Amamoor Creek Rd – climb to the cascades waterfall or just pop down to the creek and perhaps see platypus; continue on to the site of the annual Gympie Music Muster. On the way back towards Amamoor you can take a break and a short stroll in the bush near the Cedar Creek camping area.

After all this walking you’re probably feeling thirsty, which means off to the Kandanga Hotel Hotel via Happy Valley Rd. Dinner is available there or if you don’t fancy pub fare we’ll cook you dinner at Amamoor Lodge.
